➤Evening departure
In the morning we’ll have a ferry from Olkhon Island and head back to Irkutsk. Upon arrival in the city, a fascinating city tour of Irkutsk awaits us. The city was founded in the middle of the 17th century. Irkutsk is famous for its wooden houses and perfectly preserved wooden lace. In fact, the historical center of Irkutsk is one huge open-air museum!
Irkutsk is located on the banks of the mighty Angara River and was once a place of exile for noble revolutionaries from St. Petersburg and Moscow for their participation in riots or civil disobedience. The largest stream of exiles in Irkutsk history came after the famous Decembrist uprising against the Tsar in December 1825, when some of the famous rebels were eventually sent to Siberia with their wives and families. After the city tour we will be transferred to Irkutsk airport.
